About myself

I am a British citizen and an Overseas Citizen of India came to UK under the new points-based immigration policy for professional experts, introduced, in early 2001 to help improve UK Economy.  I came to UK from Germany.  Earlier I was resident for a few years in Arabian Gulf and grew up in India. I have thus an international background in education and culture as well as work experience.

My friends call me as “Madhava”.   I am fluent in English & German that are together spoken by about 2 billion people around the world. I also speak and write Hindi, Sanskrit, Gujarati and my native mother tongue –Telugu, the four Indian languages are spoken by more than 1 billion people around the world.

I have travelled extensively around UK and love visiting the small towns and countryside.  I have also visited Europe and gone around the world. To illustrate my recent and current world-wide exposure, I list the countries I happened to visit (outside UK) in the last 2 years (2008-09): USA,  South Africa, Germany, France, Poland, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Check Republic, China, Thailand, Indonesia, Japan….

My main profession is a combo of Market Research Operations Data Processing and IT.

I have been in this specialist area since last 20 years and progressed up the ladder from the lowest entry position (Data entry) to a senior International Director with an MNC.   I am devoted to the professional development and expertise in this important area that is both a science as well as an art. I do my bit to help British citizens progress in this area and keep abreast of world standards. I enrolled my-self in University of Middlesex’s MA course on counselling and studied for 3 years. I hope to complete it in future years and get a formal degree.

I have my own life outside the job that pays my bills and chosen profession. May I share with you some of those interests that may help in understanding me for what I am as a complete person:

  • Social service and Citizen’s involvement:  I strongly believe that education is fundamental to the democratic process.  Belief in this principle has led me to help contribute to my neighbourhood school in London in this way.  I am a Local Authority governor for Downe Manor Primary school in Ealing.  I am a Deputy Chairman of School Governance Financial Committee and Numeracy committee.   In this capacity, I hope to help improve the school students’ & teachers performance as well as interacting with parents. I am dedicated to this cause and already active in this area.
  • Politics: It is also important for me to participate in the political process, in a proactive way. My involvement with the local political scene has led me to be nominated as the Local Council Candidate of Conservative party.  Please send in your comments on how the administration can be improved and your own views be reflected in running the community.  I request you to send your comments on so that I can be more effective in meeting the needs of the community.
  • Inter Faith: Faith for many people is central to their lives and the diversity of cultures and faiths in the UK requires us to link to our faiths as a bridge to a cohesive society. I am interested in practice of World religions as a Global unifying movement.  As a practicing Hindu,   I strongly believe that all world religions advocate peace and common-well being for all humanity. I am elected as Vice President and I am an Inter-faith working committee member of Hindu Forum of Britain.  At the same time, I support rational and scientific thinking in all public matters.
  • Public Speaking:  Another area I am known for in the local community is my lectures on motivation and Hindu Philosophy.  My presentation in local TV on Bhagwath Gita (from epic Maha Bharath) has earned me goodwill from my local community.
  • Literature:   I am passionate about world literature and reading is one of my main hobbies.   When time permits, I also write short stories and poems, several of which have been published.   At present I am writing a series of articles titled “The secrets of Sunderakanda” (Part of Epic Ramayana) being published by “Hindu Today” monthly magazine.
  • Priest:  I am a formally trained & qualified Hindu (Brahmin) priest (both in Apastamba and Bhattiya schools of SriKrishna Yajurveda).   In UK & Europe, I have been invited to officiate weddings.   Besides performing weddings, I also perform other Hindu rituals and rites of passage (Samskaras). Any monies raised by me through this endeavour always go to Hindu charities. If you are a charity from India working for Hindu causes then you are most welcome to contact me for donations.

I hope the above pen-sketch gives you a glimpse about me and what I do in this community.

I welcome your views and comments, both on the contents of this web site as well as on how “Local community services” can be improved to reflect better the concerns of those living in these neighbourhood communities”.
